What do you see when you look into a child's eyes?

It is such a blessing to see young children arrive at church on a Sunday morning.  They come ready, full of wonder and unconditional love.  We enjoy surrounding them with the sights and sounds of worship and fellowship.  As a result of our age and experience, we are inherently smarter than them.  This wisdom helps us to lead them, teach them and keep them safe. Conversely, I guarantee that after spending just one hour with a child, you will be humbled by their exquisite intelligence.  They bring to us an innocence to see the world as it truly can be.

TheMirror of Light

Two quietpools, unscarred by fear,
Where heaven’s wonder lingers near.
They do not look, they simply see,
The truth of life’s eternity.
A glimpse of light, so soft and wise,
Within a child’s dreaming eyes.

They do notjudge the dark or grey,
But find the magic in the day.
With innocent and gentle grace,
They recognize the human race.
A trust that sees beyond the lies,
Reflected in those open eyes.

To gaze within is to behold,
A silent story, yet untold.
A mirror where the soul is free,
The clearest view of divinity.
Lord, let me see, as time now flies,
The world through a child’s eyes.
